Information on Digital Citizenship and Safety
Digital technologies and the Internet offer amazing opportunities for learning, communicating, and collaboration. The Norman Public School district is committed to helping students learn safe and ethical ways to use the Internet and other digital technologies.
Recently your child’s teacher taught students about digital citizenship and digital safety. This information included instruction about staying safe online, using the Internet responsibly, data privacy, and using online resources effectively.
Digital citizenship and safety resources for parents are available at the Norman Public Schools’ website. These resources provide information and guidelines that every parent should know about helping children stay safe on the Internet and be responsible online users. Please review and discuss this information with your child. Resources about digital citizenship and safety are available at the Norman Public Schools’ website (www.norman.k12.ok.us) by clicking on the Parents & Students link at the top of the page and then clicking on the Digital Citizenship & Safety link.
If you have any questions or concerns about digital safety, digital citizenship, or your child’s use of technology and the Internet at school, please contact your child’s teacher.
8th Grade Update
Longfellow 8th grade students will be going to Moore-Norman Technology Center on Oct. 4th (green core) and Oct. 5th (white core) to learn about their programs and opportunities available to them. Mrs. Breshears will be going in 8th grade Social Studies classes next week to talk to the students about the trip and expectations. If you have questions or do not want your student to attend, please call Mrs. Breshears at 366-5948.

Emerald Ticket Update!
Thank you to all students, parents and staff who have been working hard helping us with the fundraiser! To date, we have earned $2,800 towards our Goal of $8,000 for our Emerald Ticket Fundraiser. We are close to hitting the $4,000 mark where Mr. Bartell has agreed to be pied in the face. At the $6,000 mark, Mr. Davis has agreed to be duct taped to the wall. When we hit our $8,000 goal, Ms. Spannagel has agreed to kiss a lion (or maybe a pig or dog dressed as a lion). We have two weeks left before we draw for prizes, $500 Visa Gift Card and OU/TX Football Tickets. If you need more tickets please contact the Longfellow PTA at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our Next Longfellow PTA Board Meeting is Monday night, Sept. 19th at 6 pm in the Longfellow Library. All are Welcome!
Thank you and have a great weekend!
