Creating Informative Content for Community Organizations
A Collaborative Project by Julie Kissinger and her students
Working in small groups, Julie Kissinger's students have been connecting with community organizations in order to create informative content. After interviewing members of the organization to learn about what information that organization would like to share with the community, her students created the content and then worked with each organization in order to provide the information via the most-effective platform. Examples include: Written brochures, signage for their organization, video commercials to distribute via the organization’s Facebook page or our school Facebook page, content for the organization’s website, or a website template if the organization does not have a website already established, and educational videos to be distributed to schools in order to inform students about the purpose of the organization.
Starting next week, we will be featuring one project each week so you can see the products made by these talented 6th grade students!

Eye Spy in Peg Heckman's Class!
Using Bloom’s Taxonomy, 5th grade students in Peg Heckman's class are creating Eye Spy Books. Students will construct a scenery using found items (trinkets, recycled materials, paints, crayons, etc) plus creating the backdrop for the illustration page for their I Spy Alphabet Book. Students will take four pictures for their page and will have to analyze which picture to use for their final page. Through evaluation of the pictures students take, they will need to choose one of the four pictures to use in their assignment. Through application of their Google Slides, students will illustrate a page to complete an I Spy Alphabet Book and upload it to Google Classroom.
Some student will also be using the application of Virtual Reality and Aurasma, to video record themselves reading their page and then add it to the illustration. The 4C's of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking are featured in this project, along with a fifth C of COOL!
