The Brain Show Visits Kutz!
Instructional Spotlight - Ms. MacNeill, 3rd Grade
Thank you, Ms. MacNeill's class for your hard work and to Ms. MacNeill for creating a wonderful and flexible learning environment for students!
From Mr. Murtha...
I want to thank the Kutz Community for a warm welcome as I started at Kutz in Ms. Adelberger's stead for the next few months. Special thanks to the Kutz students and staff for the plethora of welcome cards that adorned my office as I walked in on Monday. What a way to make a guy feel welcome!
More importantly, though, today is Veteran's Day, and I want to thank the many teachers who took time to incorporate recognition of Veteran's Day into their instruction, including lessons about Veteran's Day, having students write letters of appreciation to our Veterans, and even hosting some Veteran visitors. One example of the latter came in Ms. Cunningham's and Ms. Fox's class, as a grandparent of 6th Grade students Katherine and Lillyella R. visited their respective classes to talk to the students about his experiences in the Navy.
As adults, we understand the importance of showing our appreciation for the service of our military Veterans and the many sacrifices they made in service to our country and working to protect our freedom. We also believe that, as adults, it is our responsibility to get our youth involved in celebrating, recognizing, and thanking those who have given so much to us. A huge thank you to our many teachers who incorporated Veteran's Day into their instruction this week!
The most thanks, however, goes out to our military Veteran's... especially those who are part of our greater Kutz Community!
John C. Murtha
Acting Principal

Fundraising Update!
Dear Families,
As we wrap up this year’s fall fundraiser, we wanted to give a special thanks to you and your children as well as to your extended family and friends! This was our most successful fundraiser yet, with a donation total of just over $25,000! With the help of those businesses that contributed to our sponsorship program, not only were we able to completely cover the cost of the student tee shirts, but you helped us to achieve our overall total as well.
An event is like this is much more successful with the support of many. We are so thankful for our village of teachers and staff and parent volunteers who put so much time and effort into helping to support and coordinate this event. To show our appreciation, Home and School provided lunch for the staff and Boosterthon team.
We heard so much positive feedback and the evidence of our success is in our outcome! We are excited to announce that Boosterthon will be returning in October 2023!
Thank you again,
The Fundraising Committee

A Message from the School Nurse
Hello Kutz Families,
I want to remind everyone that flu season is upon us. I am asking that families consider getting a flu vaccine. We want to keep everyone in our building as healthy as possible. Children are typically out of school for at least a week with the flu. Please ask your doctor if you have concerns about getting the vaccine. Putting a reminder on your phone or calendar is a good way to remember to prioritize your health.
Stay well,

Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized. Students should not be using the devices on the bus.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
