MARCH 8, 2023 - NEWSLETTER
SLPHS families,
We have almost reached spring break! Students wrap up trimester 2 courses tomorrow, then staff spend Friday on grading and reporting tasks. Spring break follows. I am hopeful we will all be able to put our shovels in storage soon!
As the trimester comes to a close, I want to recognize each of our student athletes, mathletes, performers and student club members for their involvement and commitment to the winter season. These efforts enrich the high school experience for those involved and our whole community. We had several students and groups compete at their respective state competitions which I would also like to recognize:
- Our Swim Team placed 14th at the state meet, and Braden Ripken is the 50-meter freestyle state champion
- One Act Play won the section and performed at the state competition
- Girls Hockey competed in the state tournament
- The Pantherette Dance team competed at the state meet in both Jazz and Kick
- 15 DECA students competed in the state competition
I get to interact with and learn alongside some truly amazing students each day at Spring Lake Park High School. I am proud of each of them.
There’s no school Friday, March 10 through Monday, March 20. Students return to school Tuesday, March 21. I encourage our students and families to engage in learning throughout the break. Have conversations about current events. Encourage students to read and discuss what they’re reading. Maybe do a short research project on a topic of interest and share what they learn. Let’s keep critical thinking and academic skills sharp as we look to Tri 3.
I look forward to launching trimester 3 when we return from break rejuvenated and ready to pursue more successes and growth. Together, we build bright futures…one school, one community #SLPPantherProud!

We have ourselves a STATE CHAMP! Congratulations to Braden Ripken who won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.69 at the Swim and Dive state meet and who was also named Section 5AA Swimmer of the Year!
