CGB Elementary News
February 3, 2023
The months seem to fly by and these newsletters provide a great time for me to reflect on past and future. There are so many events going on and lots to look forward to.
Last week was a tough stretch of weather as students learned from home on two separate e-learning days. We have one more e-learning day in case of bad weather. The remainder of weather days in which school is closed would be days made up in June.
February is "I Love to Read Month." The student council has organized dress up days and we will celebrate reading throughout the month with several activities. You received this information via email. Mrs. Andrews and Mrs. Cardwell continue to devote a great amount of time and energy to our student council. We are appreciative of all of the positive activities they help lead.
I Love to Read Month
- Children who read at least 20 minutes a day are exposed to almost 2 million words per year.
- Reading could help reduce mental decline in old age by up to 32%.
- Reading fiction can make you a better decision-maker.
- Reading increases emotional intelligence, and consequently, your career outlooks.
- 6 additional minutes of reading per day can significantly improve kids’ reading performance.

Andes Ski Trip
What really made my day is Andes letting us know how appreciative they were of our CGB students. They were overly impressed by how supportive our students were of each other - cheering classmates on, showing perseverance, and having a great attitude towards the challenge of skiing. We are so proud to hear this about our students. Thank you parents for your support!

Paraprofessional Appreciation Week
We are so blessed to have so many quality paraprofessionals at CGB Elementary. They arrive at school each day ready to serve students in so many ways. Our students appreciate the kindness and care that they show in so many ways. Our paras are busy during the day helping in so many ways.
Please be sure to thank a paraprofessional when you see them.
