Pine Island Parent Press

February 2020

From the Principal's Desk....

With the second half of the school year well under way, I want to thank everyone for your continued support of our students, teachers, and school as we collectively strive to provide optimal opportunities for learning each and every day. In addition, I want to also welcome our new families to Pine Island and trust that you will find yourselves to be a part of an outstanding and supportive learning community.

February is a great time to cuddle up and read a book together, play math games, review homework and get outside to enjoy the snow. As we enter into another month of winter, it is important to make sure that students are in school, on time, and ready to learn. Though we are looking forward to our next Parent Teacher conferences in March, we hope that if you have any concerns or questions, regarding your child's education and/or time here at school, that you contact your student's teacher. Communication is one of the building blocks of a strong educational foundation. Stay Warm

Empowering and Inspiring Learners and Leaders for Life!

Flu Season

It's that time of the year again, please listen to your child if they are not feeling well before school. Do not send them if they have a fever, diarrhea, or are vomiting. It makes your child miserable and also exposes their classmates. If you child is too ill to go out for recess, they are too ill to attend school. All students will participate in recess activities.

Leader in Me Update

We are so excited to venture into the next chapter of Leader in Me! We will have Franklin Covey representatives visiting Pine Island on February 5 to see all the great things that we have going on. The staff and students have worked really hard on learning the 7 habits and following them in whatever we do. We know all of our students are Leaders and we want them all to find their passions to pursue. When the representatives are here, they will interview students, staff, and parents and look at everything we do. Then we wait to find out if we earned Lighthouse Status... that is a pretty big deal!! Lighthouse Status means that Leader in Me is part of who we are at Pine Island. We will keep you in the loop....we are excited to show off our hard work!
