Cougar Courier

Greetings from Dr. Garcia

April 3, 2020

Governor Holcomb announced Thursday afternoon that school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the school year. Our buildings might be closed, but we are still working hard to meet the needs of our scholars. We will work tirelessly to cultivate online communities, to maintain relationships with our families, and to create learning experiences for our scholars. We remain here for you, and we will support each other during this challenging time.

I know some families are concerned about their scholars' belongings. We will create a schedule for families to come in and collect belongings once it is safe to do so.

I had the opportunity to participate in some classroom meetings via Google Hangouts this week. I am thankful that we are still able to connect with each other, and it was wonderful to see so many faces! Please share any pictures you have of your scholars engaging in eLearning via email. My email address is ngarcia@sb.school. I plan on including them in the Courier and on our Twitter and Facebook pages.

Being reflective is one of our learner attributes and now is a great time to encourage time for reflection. Finding a quiet space, journaling, drawing, and talking to others are all ways that we can reflect on how we are feeling during this time.

Monday begins spring break so there will not be eLearning. I hope you are able to use this time to rest and recharge.

Our local community is doing a wonderful job providing meals for families during this time. Remember that meals are available to all of our families! Please stay safe, stay well and let your scholars know we miss them!

Blessings,

Dr. Garcia
