Bulldog Bulletin
New Britton Elementary - January 22, 2016
Principal's Message
Dear Bulldog Families,
ISTEP scores and school letter grades were recently released by the state. If you have been following the news, there has been much controversy surrounding the changes and scheduling of last year’s test. The initial prediction was that scores across the state would significantly drop due to the implementation of new Indiana College and Career Standards and a different testing format. Scores across Indiana did drop; however, I am pleased with our overall results and happy to announce that New Britton remains an A school.
Our School Improvement Committee is in the process of analyzing our ISTEP results and comparing those results with other assessment data that we have to measure our growth and achievement. When looking at data it is always important to use more than one source of data (ISTEP, NWEA, grade, Guided Reading Levels, etc.). Although last year's ISTEP test was different than previous year's we are using the data to inform the future direction of our teaching and learning. I will be sharing more specific school goal information with you later in February.
As always, thank you for partnering with us in education. Enjoy your weekend!
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin

After School Enrichment Week is February 22nd – 25th!
Hello, New Britton Volunteers! After School Enrichment Week is set for Feb 22nd - 25th this year. This is a 4 day after-school event from 3:45-5:00 where students can enroll in a variety of classes that are fun and educational. We are now in the planning stages and need to find parent or teacher volunteers to lead our classes. All you need is a love for teaching a topic you're interested in and a criminal background check on file. Help will be provided in setting up a fun and educational class, which can be geared towards all grades, K-2 only, or 2-4 only. Class sizes can be set to best accommodate the activity. Call or text Kelly Mason at 457-0312 or email at mkmason@sbcglobal.net. Please contact Kelly by Jan 31st. Assistants will be recruited once the lead teachers have been set in place. Thanks!
