YOUNG 5S VISIT DENEWETH'S GARDEN CENTER
Our Y5s class had a wonderful time on our field trip to Deneweth's Garden Center! We enjoyed stations where we played games, decorated pumpkins, found our way through a blow-up Halloween maze, completed the life cycle of a pumpkin, and guessed if pumpkins can float. The students then enjoyed time on their playground, haystack, sand hill, and spooky train ride through the haunted greenhouses! Our trip came to an end with delicious cider and donuts! What great memories were made!

5th Grade Recorder Concert!
Our concert is fast approaching! We are so excited to showcase our 5th-grade band in their recorder concert thisWednesday, October 18th at 6 P.M. in the Fraser High School gym. Students should enter through the gym doors, located at the north end of the parking lot of Fraser High School. Call time for students is no later than 5:30 P.M. There is no specific attire required; however, students were asked to dress up.
After the concert is over, rental night will begin! A&G Music and Eastside music will have tables set up outside to get your student an instrument. After your student has their instrument, there are instrument specific rooms with high school volunteers that will help your student set up their instrument and make their first sounds!
Second Step
As you know, in September we kicked of the Second Step Curriculum in all K-8 classes to further strengthen our social and emotional learning. Second Step offers weekly, age-appropriate virtual lessons for students to help them with a variety of social and emotional skills. These weekly lessons build on and support all of the great work we're doing at Ike to support our students. Combined with our schoolwide restorative practices and consistent PBIS expectations, we are creating a firm Tier 1 foundation for supporting all of our students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.
This week, each grade-level will begin a new unit. Please view the grade-level home links below to learn more about what your child is learning and how to support them at home during the second unit of Second Step.
Halloween!
- Parade: A short "Halloween Parade" will take place beginning at 10:00AM on Tuesday, October 31st. Weather permitting, we will parade out the main doors and around the building. Our Y5s & kindergarten students will lead the parade around each classroom and then out around the building. All are welcome to come and watch our costume parade outdoors!
- Classroom Activities: Classrooms/grade levels will be planning for Halloween activities and celebrations individually, either before or after the parade. If teachers request parent volunteers to help facilitate the classroom activities, all volunteers will have to submit a Background Check.
- Costumes: Students may come to school in costume on Tuesday, October 31st. They can stay in costume for the duration of the day. Costumes need to be school appropriate and cannot depict violence or excess blood/gore. No fake weapons are allowed in school (i.e. toy guns, swords, blades, etc). Costume masks can be worn for the parade, but not throughout the day. For costumes that have short skirts/shorts, leggings or pants need to be worn underneath.
Student-Led Conferences
We are looking forward to having our teachers meet with you and your child during Eisenhower's Student - Led Conferences. During this time, students will showcase their goals and academic progress. It is important to include your child in these conferences so that they can take ownership of their academic plan for the year.
Conference dates and times are as follows:
Wednesday, October 25th from 4:30 to 7:30 PM
Thursday, October 26th from 1:00-3:30 PM & 4:30-7:30 PM
Harvest Fest!
Red Ribbon Week -- October 23 - 27th!
Attendance
Showing Up Matters
Absenteeism during the first month of school can predict poor attendance for the remainder of the school year. Half the students who miss just 2-4 days in September go on to miss nearly a month of school by June.
We will soon begin contacting families of students who are showing signs of becoming chronically absent and working with them to improve attendance moving forward.
What is Chronic Absence?
Chronic absence is defined as missing 10 percent or more of the school year, or about 18 days of school. It includes all absences, both excused and unexcused.
How will Fraser Address Absenteeism?
We will soon begin reviewing attendance data every two weeks. Students who are absent 20 percent or more of the school year will receive a phone call home. They may also have to complete an attendance success plan.
PARKING LOT REMINDERS!
* The bus loops is for buses ONLY!
* If your child arrives late, please sign them in (in the office.)
