Trading Cards by ReadWriteThink allows students to share their understanding of various topics or concepts.

This is available as an app for iOS or Android devices or on the web for laptops and computers.

EDPuzzle is an online tool that allows you to make any video into your lesson.

You can crop the video to use only the most important or relevant parts.

You can add your voice recording or insert audio notes into the video.

You can ask questions at strategic points in the video to assess your students' understanding.

You can search for videos from YouTube, Khan Academy, Learn Zillion, Crash Course and other sites.

You can upload your own video and make it exactly what you need.

In EdPuzzle, you can set up classes and assign video lessons to classes. When students view the video and answer embedded questions, EDPuzzle tracks their progress and records responses to questions.

You can get html code to embed an EDPuzzle video into your teacher webpage, but it will not track progress/responses.


Augmented Reality is a technology that changed the way students interact with the world. It unlocks digital layers that are embedded into flat, one-dimensional images.

  3. Open the AR Flashcards App and press Get Started.

FREEDOM STORIES from Harriet Tubman Institute

The Augmented Reality Freedom Stories highlight the activities of the participants from the Underground Railroad. Download and print in color the Freedom Stories cards from the Harriet Tubman Institute. Hint - click on one of the cards to download the entire series in PDF format. The app can also be downloaded from this site or the iTunes store.


Spacecraft 3D gives students the opportunity to learn about and interact with spacecraft that have been used to explore our solar system, study Earth and observe the universe.

  1. Download the trigger/target image from NASA.
  2. Download the app for IOS from the iTunes Store. The Android app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
  3. Hover your device over the trigger/target image to discover the various spacecraft used by NASA.

Explore the chemicals in the Periodic Table of Elements as you learn about Chemistry!
Download and print the six cubes from Daqri (cardstock works best).
Download the Elements 4D App.

AURASMA to Create Your Own

The Aurasma App for iPads and the Aurasma Studio website provide educators the ability to create their own augmented reality activities and lessons. The following websites include step-by-step directions for using Aurasma.


  1. Download and print the Dot coloring page from
  2. Download the ColAR Mix App from the Apple or Google Play store.
  3. Have students color a picture related to your curriculum inside the Dot. Be careful not to color over the black outlines too much.
  4. Open the ColAR Mix app and watch your picture come to life! Touch the purple circle to see more images.
  5. ColAR has other images to color. A few are free, and some are low cost.


The possibilities are endless with QR Codes.
