In Case You Missed It:
The draft calendar that was sent out earlier was approved as presented. The end of quarters and report cards are being added and will be sent out by the district when completed. Thank you to Bonnie Marshall for representing us on this district committee.
Another shout out to Bonnie Marshall for volunteering to sponsor a SLMS chess club! She plans to hold an interest meeting the week after we return in January.
Our National Junior Honor Society "board" has met once and will be meeting again this week to finalize the plans for selection of students which aligns with the NJHS guidelines. They will be needing assistance from homeroom teachers after report cards are run to help them with nominations. More information will be coming out from the team in January. Thank you to Kim Vaughn, Ashley Inman, Karen Caldwell, Cynthia Wicker, Kimberly Morrill, and Alison Poole for all the time and planing to get this wonderful opportunity off the ground for our kids!
My heart has been warmed so much seeing all the giving back our Stallion Nation has done during this holiday season! Our cheerleaders and SGLA rang the Salvation Army bell. SGLA has the drive for hospice patients. 7th grade students made cards for the elderly to be distributed by Lee County Sheriff's officers to elderly homebound citizens in Lee County and many classes are making cards for a very sick child in Lee County. Our ESL students and their families will be singing at Westfield Rehabilitation Center this week. Our cheerleaders also have caroling scheduled at area rest homes on Friday afternoon. These are ways that we are helping to demonstrate to our children the importance of being a good citizen in our community. We are also teaching them that simple gestures can go a long way and that being kind is always the way to go. This is the true meaning of the holidays. Thank you to all that have supported and helped instill this in our Stallions!
Congratulations to Christina Reed for successfully completing her administrative internship with us at SLMS! Everything will be officially done by this week. SLMS has benefitted greatly from her commitment and leadership while being in her graduate program.
We will be hosting a wresting match at Southern Lee High School on January 15, 2020. We will need two people to sell tickets from 3:30-5:15pm. If you are willing and able, please let me know.
