SHS Library Media Center News

October/November 2013

The Teen Library Council is sponsoring two fundraising raffles during the month of November for the movies Thor: The Dark World and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Tickets will be $1.00 per ticket or $3.00 for five tickets. The prizes for both raffles are baskets filled with candy, popcorn, drinks, movie related gifts, and a movie ticket for opening night. The winner for the Thor basket will be drawn on November 8 and the winner for the Catching Fire basket will be drawn on November 22. Tickets will be sold during lunches.

Book Fair

We will have a Scholastic Book Fair in the library from November 14 - December 4. There will be a wide variety of books available for purchase (middle school level, high school level, and adult level). Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted as forms of payment. All sales directly benefit the Southampton High School library.

If you are booked up and can't make it to the library (or just want to continue shopping) you will also be able to shop online and have the items delivered to the school. The online fair will run from November 14 - December 4, 2013 and will have a larger selection of books than the in-school fair. Family members can also purchase books online and have them shipped free of charge to their children at school.

Mrs. Crowder will also draw names for six giveaways during the book fair.

1. Teacher gift basket (one entry per book purchased)

2. Student gift basket (one entry per book purchased)

3. Twitter follower prizes (student or faculty followers)

4. Pinterest follower prizes (student or faculty followers)

5. Remind 101 (Library News only) subscriber prizes (student or faculty subscribers)

6. Accelerated Reader prizes (20 or more Accelerated Reader points thus far for this school year)
