"Start with Hello" Week Program

Next week, September 18 - 22, we are participating in the Sandy Hook Promise “Start With Hello” Week! Small but powerful actions can promote inclusion and kindness. The “Start With Hello” program teaches students to build connections, end loneliness, and help each other. There is an introduction video here if you’d like to utilize that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3173HF-kUw. We will have a few low impact classroom activities this week including:

  • Make Someone Smile Monday

    • Continue to get to know your classmates!! Say “Hello!” to someone you don’t know.

    • Include everyone!!! Invite someone you don’t know to play a game at recess.

  • Upstander Tuesday

    • Show appreciation to Upstanders who reach out and help others.

    • Grades 3-5: go the extra step and surprise them with a certificate or an Upstander-GRAM. (materials will be provided).

  • Wear Green Wednesday

    • Wear green as a symbol of unity, inclusivity, and solidarity with Sandy Hook Promise and Start With Hello Week.

  • Talk About it Thursday

    • Thank a trusted adult or a friend you feel like you can always talk to! Thank those who spread the Start With Hello spirit and positivity.

    • Grades 3-5: Write a note to a trusted adult or another upstander! Tell them you appreciate them (materials will be provided)!!

  • Find a New Friend Friday

    • Make friends with someone you don’t know!

    • Make a Start With Hello Promise Pledge to keep the spirit going throughout the year (materials will be provided).

Thank you for your support for this initiative!

CAS Landscaping Team

The CAS Landscaping Team needs your help! Our CAS grounds may look effortless, but behind the scenes are people and parents who love to make the grounds look beautiful and inviting for our kids.

We need your support this fall to help maintain our enchanting pollinator garden. Absolutely no gardening experience necessary, just a willingness to lend a helping hand and some of your time. Click the link CAS Landscape Signup for more information about the event in November and to sign up. Even one hour of your time would be helpful.

Contact LandscapeCAS@gmail.com with questions.

As a bonus, you may have the opportunity to bring home divisions of plants for your own flower garden!

P.S. The Landscape Committee is separate from the CAS Learning Garden Committee who organizes the vegetable garden. They need your help too (see above).
