Bear Tracks
Summer Edition - August 12, 2016
A Note From the Principal:
The excitement is growing. The school is looking better every day and the placement letters will be going out next week. This year families will log onto OnCourse to find their teachers, etc. I hope that you are relaxing and staying in the moment for the last few weeks of summer.
I also hope that you are enjoying the Olympics and are being inspired by the unbelievable feats that our athletes are performing. Seeing how unwavering commitment and focus can pay off is certainly inspiring! I also love how we can all celebrate America; and not get caught up in politics, differences, etc. The Olympics have inspired our quote and article of the week.
I would like to share how thankful I am for Lauren in the office and for Carlton, Phil, Donald and Basurt. They have been amazing all summer long. It is incredible how much preparation goes into setting up the schedules, computer systems, orders and of course, making the building clean and looking great.
See below for schedules and information regarding getting back into the building. Have a great weekend.
Sincerely,
Chris
Information & Dates:
- Special Thanks - I'd like to thank our BT Custodial Staff. They have been nothing short of tremendous over the past few weeks, cleaning out rooms, waxing huge expanses of hallways and moving hundreds of pieces of furniture. They have been extraordinary. For that reason, we are clear to work in classrooms starting Monday. PLEASE NOTE: The trailers are moving along, but will NOT be ready next week. Currently the company that does the 'deep cleaning,' the flooring company and the painters are working together and some drywall is even being replaced. I will continue to give trailer updates, but don't expect them to be available next week, I'll let everyone know as soon as I can.
* Anyone who works in the trailers or teaches Special Ed are welcome to come in and sort through the items on the stage to see what we want to keep and what we want to I was able to dispose of many of the resources that we did not use, I did not toss anything that I was not sure of. I do not want to put anything back into the trailers that we don't need, so would love for some people to take a look and organize a bit before items are moved back in. All items from the storage room are on the stage.
** Painters will be working in the gym, the Kindergarten cluster and the hallways in the 4th/5th grade wing. You may be in your room, but if you are in those areas, please don't put anything on the walls yet.
- Trenton Thunder - If you are attending the Thunder game on Tuesday, just pick up your tickets from the "Will Call" window. Be sure to bring an id, because you have to show it to get the tickets.
- Open House - On August 25th, we'll have our Open House, K Orientation and New Student Orientation.
- Chalk - Last year, I used sidewalk chalk to write some messages for students for the first day. I want to extend an invitation for any and all interested staff to join in this year. Save the date - September 6th. Time TBA (not too late, so we can all get some sleep!).
NEW! Google Site w Schedules, Calendars and Important Information
Click below to see the schedule and to browse our new Google Site
You'll see a few links in the "Important Forms" page. We will add more as the summer goes on. If there is a particular resource that you think would be helpful on the site, just let me know. We will be able to share information, articles, etc. related to TIP and many other areas... This is a work in progress and I'll continue to add and modify. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help navigating. One thing that I'll have before school starts is individual schedules for classroom teachers in a similar format to the specialists.
