Summer Marching Band 2016
Summer Marching Band 2016
This fast paced music will yield a strong visual and musical show for 2016. The staff is very excited and is eager to begin training students to perform their best! Music for the show should be ready to read sometime in January. We will have our inaugural performance at the District Band Concert on March 10 when all high school bands perform it for you.
Please examine the summer schedule (above) and consider joining us for this energetic show!
Mystery Tour 2016
The last Mystery Tour was back in 2012. Our destination was Northwestern Indiana, where we visited instrument manufacturing plants, attended a professional baseball game, performed in a 4th of July parade along side of several of the top 12 Drum Corps in the United States. We also worked with the Blue Stars for an afternoon, and attended a Drum Corps show!
The tour was a big success, and all the while, students did not know where they were going, or what they were doing. As we drove out of the parking lot, parents were given a full itinerary and were instructed not to text, email or communicate in any way to the students about our plans. So, here we are in 2016 and ready to offer another experience for our students. Please know, this trip will be equally exciting, full of experiences and offer an opportunity to perform on a grand scale!
Below are a couple documents to help you understand more about our Mystery Tour. Please view them and consider joining us! January 18 is our date to get everyone on board for the summer of 2016!
Communication
Concordia College Band performs at SRRHS
I will be offering some extra credit points to Concert Band students for taking the extra time to perform on Saturday, February 6. I will also be offering extra credit point to Varsity Band students who attend and write a brief analysis of the performance.
We are very fortunate to have a facility that can be used to host outstanding band programs like Concordia. If you have contact with any college ensembles (band, choir and/or orchestra) that you think would be a positive opportunity for our students, please either send Mr. Campbell the communication information, or contact them and have them contact Mr. Campbell to set up an opportunity to perform!
Pot Luck supper on February 6
I have created a spreadsheet for you to offer a food item that night. (Details of when food needs to be at school will be shared as we get closer to the event.) Please sign-up for any item(s) that you are comfortable providing.
