ACT 2
Director's Note;
Godspell is presented as a story being shared with the audience by a group of storytellers, and is based on the Gospel According to St. Matthew.
The show, which is not built on a traditional plot, uses clowning around, pantomime, charades and vaudeville to tell the story Christ. It moves from moment to moment, and is a reflection on the life of Jesus by ten performers dressed in today's clothing.
Act One is about building a community and Act Two is a culmination of Jesus' life on earth as a human. This is done through a series of lessons and parables in what appears to be no order. The performers bring them together and demonstrate the meaning of the Gospel of Matthew to the audiences in humorous and serious ways.
This group of kids have worked very hard to bring this performance to you. It hasn't always been fun and it certainly hasn't been easy. But, we've learned about and have a very good appreciation of the Gospel of Matthew and hope that you will enjoy the show as much as we've enjoyed putting it together for you.
