Help Needed for Disaster Relief in Eden
The Uwharrie District Disaster Response team will be going to Eden this Saturday, May 20 first thing in the morning for a one-day Blitz to help residents that have experienced damage from the EF1 tornado that occurred on May 5 and the storm on May 11.
We have three requests as a Network.
1) If you are aware of a need due to the tornado or storm, please contact Leaksville UMC at 336-623-3418. The secretary will take their information (name, address, best contact phone number) and someone will be in contact with them to assess their need. As the needs arise and are assessed, workers will be assembled and dispersed.
2) If there is anyone that would like to assist in helping (need good listeners, drag brush, supply water and food for workers, etc.) they can call Leaksville UMC at 336-623-3418 and leave their name and phone number. Someone will contact them with the time and location to meet.
3) Continue to remember those who are displaced and dealing with the loss of homes and other personal items. These losses can take their toll spiritually as well as mentally and physically.
We know that as much damage as was done, and even with the help of a number of groups, this recovery cannot be completed in one day. But as United Methodists it is our desire and calling to walk with this community as long as necessary.
Thank you!
