Freshmen Newsletter - July 13, 2021
Welcome EHS Wildcats - Class of 2025!
The first day of school for Eagan High School is Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Buses will transport freshmen, 9th grade students, to school as scheduled for a typical school day. School begins at 7:40 a.m. for freshmen, who will report to the Student Commons (cafeteria). We use this morning to welcome and support our freshmen!
All freshmen will begin the day with a large assembly, followed by students working together in small groups with Student LINK Crew Leaders. Freshmen and LINK Crew members will enjoy fun and informative activities throughout the building including a tour and classroom visits.
If your freshman student is enrolled in 196Online but taking 1 or 2 classes in person at Eagan HS, please do attend the parent/guardian evening and the 9th grade student should plan to be at EHS on Sept. 1 and 2 - just as they would throughout the school year for those two classes.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors will report to school at 11:00 a.m. the first day, Wednesday, Sept. 1st. Bus transportation will be provided for grades 10, 11 and 12 to arrive for the 11 a.m. start.
ALL students will follow a modified schedule for the remainder of the day that will allow everyone to eat lunch and meet all their teachers, following their daily schedule, in assigned classes. The day concludes at its usual time for this school year, 2:30 p.m.
Thursday, September, 2 will be a regular school day for all students from 7:40 - 2:30.
No school for students on Friday, September 3. School resumes on Wednesday, Sept. 8 for all students.

All students, including freshmen, will be using their iPad as school begins. This is a continuation of the use of 1:1 technology to enhance learning within the classroom and at home. We hope that all students have a stylus to use with their iPad.
Freshmen who were enrolled in District 196 middle schools will continue to use their 8th grade iPad as school begins. Freshmen new to District 196 will also receive an iPad for this school year. Watch for more information in our August newsletter.
Once again, students and parents/guardians will need to sign a user agreement. Details will be available later on accessing these forms using My Payments - watch for it in August.

Please plan to be at EHS for the Freshmen Class Orientation Evening from 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday, August 30th for all Freshmen Parents and Guardians. This is an evening for Freshmen Parents/Guardians only.
Parent and Guardians will receive information on how to have a smooth and successful transition into high school for themselves and their students.. Information and set-up help will be offered for Schoology access, CAMPUS access and MyPayments set up and use. We will also offer building tours.
Freshmen student schedules will be distributed to Parents/Guardians. Counselors will be available to answer questions regarding scheduling concerns. More specific information will be shared in our August Newsletter
PAWS
Freshmen students will be assigned to a PAWS (People Achieving Wildcat Spirit) class. PAWS is our daily homeroom period each day from (9:24-9:39 a.m.) that consists of members from every EHS class -- freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors -- with the same homeroom teacher throughout their four years of high school. The goal of PAWS is to make a large school smaller, and to provide our students with an adult advocate in the building.
Some of the PAWS activities include school-wide spirit competitions, grade checks, Eagan AM broadcasts, Armful of Love holiday donations, food shelves donations, and Academic Days. It is also an appropriate time for students to take 15 minutes out of their busy day to “catch their breath” as they move through a full 7-period class schedule.
FRESHMEN TAILGATE Friday, September 10th!!
Friday, September 10 marks the annual Freshmen Tailgate Party. Freshmen are invited to meet their LINK Leaders and fellow classmates at 6:00 p.m. for a meal and other activities near the Wildcat Stadium. Following the party, freshmen Wildcats and LINK Leaders are invited to attend the football game at 7:00 p.m. against Park-Cottage Grove HS. Cost is $5 and includes admission to the party and food, plus a ticket to the game. Further details will be sent to you in the August Newsletter.
