The Scholastic Book Fair is coming soon and it is going to be ‘PAWS-itively’ awesome!
Mountain Avenue PTA is hosting a Scholastic ‘Paws for Books’ Book Fair just in time for holiday shopping! The Book Fair runs from Dec 7-9 and will be held in the Auditorium.
There are THREE great ways to shop!
- Students shop with their classroom – see the flyer in the Thursday update or https://www.scholastic.com/bf/mountainavenuees on how to set up an eWallet - an easy, cashless way for your child to shop
- After school shopping (2:30-3:15PM on Tues, Dec 7 & Thurs, Dec 9. 1:15-2PM on Wed, Dec 8). This is student-only shopping with 10 students shopping at a time
- Online shopping. Shop at home with the family at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/mountainavenuees from Dec 6 - Dec 19!
Want to help our teachers and library purchase books? Look for links to Teacher and Library eWallets from Room Parents the week before the Fair begins.

Volunteer PTA Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee’s job is to nominate, and sometimes recruit, PTA members to be on the slate of officers for our PTA Executive Board for next school year. The Nominating Committee consists of 5 members and 2 alternates. We will elect the Nominating Committee at our December Association Meeting.
Nominating committee members must be a member of Mountain Avenue’s PTA and can’t serve on the nominating committee for two consecutive years. The committee will meet (via zoom) a handful of times to determine the best candidate for each executive board position. You will be walked through the process of nominating officers by our Parliamentarian, Kathy Necus. Contact Kathy Necus at kathnecuspta@gmail.com to submit your name for the committee. Thank you!
PTA Honorary Service Awards Committee
Join our PTA Honorary Service Awards (HSA) Committee and help recognize the service and dedication of individuals and organizations to our community. This committee will meet a couple times in January to review community nominations and select the recipients to be presented at our annual Founders Day event in March. HSA Committee members must be current PTA members and will be appointed at the December 10th Association Meeting.
If you are interested and would like to learn more about the HSA committee, please contact Amelia Lapeña at amlapena.pta@gmail.com. Additional information can be found at https://www.gusd.net/Page/15467.
