Birdneck Counseling Updates
December 2014
It's the most wonderful time of the year!
Last week, we had Thanksgiving baskets delivered to all of our families on our FoodBank BackPack list! AND they have all been adopted for holiday gifts! What a great community we are a part of!
We are getting ready to share an exciting time with our at-risk students at the Kidz Kruz event this weekend! We will have 100 students board a couple of charter buses, travel to Walmart, spend a $20 gift card, enjoy some pizza, meet Santa and receive a small gift, and finish up with a ride through the Lights at the Beach! If you are interested in chaperoning this event, please contact Ms. Rinehart! If you have any students you would like to recommend to participate, please send their names to me!
I am also working on planning our Career Day for 4th and 5th grade. It will be held on February 12th and we are looking to have a minimum of 8-10 participants! I have invited various community members to join us, but if you know someone who would be interested in sharing what they do with 6 classes for 15 minutes each, please let me know!
Remember to visit my blog to stay updated on information I share with parents, including community resources and happenings that come across my desk!
What to look for when choosing your citizen this month:
- They treat others in a caring, generous way
- They help others who are in need
- They are sensitive to people's feelings
- They think about how their words or actions will affect others
- They are never intentionally mean or hurtful
Coming Up:
January - Fairness
February - Honesty
March - Cooperation
April - Self-Control
May - Trustworthiness
The Great Kindness Challenge! Coming in January!
I will be handing out teacher toolkits that Monday and Tuesday during the staff days. Wednesday through Friday will be all about students checking acts of kindness of their list! We will have a kindness-themed spirit day each day that week, recognize acts of kindness each morning, and have kindness activities during PE or lunch each day!
Be on the lookout for more information to come!
