Updates From Room 110
The latest from Mr. Vanselow's Class
The End of a Fantastic Year
It’s hard to believe that this is our last newsletter of the year! We had quite the year in room 110. It was such a great experience to see all of the growth everyone made academically and socially. I was very fortunate to have such a hard working, kind, and caring class this year. I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to spend the last nine months with your children. They are some truly incredible kids. We had so much fun this year and I will certainly miss our crew!
I have told the kids a few things to focus on this summer. First of all and most importantly, play and have fun! Take advantage of the free time. I told them that in reading they should just spend time reading and enjoying books and to find a chapter book series that they love. In math, I let them know that a little work here and there on their multiplication facts will be a huge help to them in 3rd grade.
Tell your child to feel free to write me any emails or share any writing with me at kvanse1@isd77.k12.mn.us. If there is anything I can help out with in the summer, feel free to give me a call at 507.398.9301.
Have a great summer!
Spring Testing Report
You will notice a gold colored sheet coming home with your child that is an overview of their scores on our spring testing. As I mentioned on the sheet, please feel free to let me know if you have any questions at all!
Picnic at Erlandson Park
We had a blast at the park on Wednesday this week. Thankfully we stayed dry! We had our lunch and were able to play all afternoon until the end of the day. Below are a few pictures.
Our Last Out of the Blue Day
We had our last Out of the Blue day of the year this week. We went outside as a school to have 20 minutes of extra play time. As a bonus, we were lucky enough to have Carson’s mom provide us with some Out of the Blue Treats as well. They were a hit!
Current Habit We are Working On:
Sharpen the Saw! We have talked about the importance of never stopping learning and improving. We can always get better at both the things we are good at and the things we may struggle with.

Here are the step goals for next week:

We were able to get our published procedural texts finished up and printed just in time for the end of the year! The kids will be sharing them with the class next week. It was so fun to see how much the kids’ skills in using Google Docs improved this spring. Feel free to encourage your child to continue writing on Google Docs and send me their great work this summer!
