STEM Night at Bayles
What special chemical reactions can occur at a campus when you bring all the amazing staff, volunteers, and community organizations together at Bayles Elementary for a family night of science, technology, engineering, arts, and math?
You get your own passport to seek out and discover the answers for yourself. Over 200 students and families participated in Bayles S.T.E.A.M. Day and Bayles American Idol Contest on May 19
th. Students submitted their science fair projects for a competition during the school day. In the evening, families engaged in activities from the Perot Museum, EverFi, Lakewood Mathnasium, Reasoning Mind, Dallas ISD S.T.E.M. Department, Peace Gardens, and Bayles Art teacher, Ms.Karla De La Torre.
Mr. Jack Phillips, Bayles music director, lead an awe-inspiring talent show that left you on the edge of your seat. Mr.Danny Brooks from Lakewood Mathnasium and Principal Robby Wilson awarded two 2
ndgrade students a three month scholarship to receive effective math tutoring over the summer.

Educators Receive Free Admission to the Arboretum
Online Certification Preparation Courses
Texas A&M University is offering online preparation courses (Bilingual #164, BTLPT #190, and BTLPT Writing) throughout the summer for those teachers who are interested in obtaining a bilingual supplemental certification. Funding for these courses is provided by TEA and Dallas ISD teachers can enroll at no charge. The courses are completely online, and teachers will receive professional development hours upon completion of each course. Human Capital Management is preparing to disseminate contracts for the 2016-2017 school year. Contracts will be available for all contract-eligible employees via Oracle Employee Self Service by early May. Please expect an email from firstname.lastname@example.org containing instructions on how to complete the acceptance process once contracts are available. Employees will have two weeks to provide an electronic signature.
According to Texas Education Code, contract eligible employees wishing to resign must do so 45 days before the first instructional day of the school year. The deadline for the 2016-17 school year is July 8, 2016.

Teacher Excellence Initiative
May 10-25--teachers will verify their rosters in order to verify the students who will be included in the calculation of their student achievement results.
May 23-June 6 will be the teacher rebuttal window in oracle for summative performance evaluations.
June 2 is the last day to conduct spot observations and the last day to hold the summative conferences.
