Dear Squantum Families,

Just wanted to send a note on behalf of the entire Squantum School staff to wish you and your family the best of everything this holiday season.

This is always a great time of year to reflect and I am so grateful to be part of this incredible school community. Thank you for sharing your students and for always supporting Squantum School.

All Quincy Public Schools will be closed December 24th - January 2nd. Classes will resume Tuesday, January 3rd for the new year! Have a wonderful and relaxing break!

As part of our PBIS and DEIB school-wide initiatives, students created this display in our main entrance to describe how they light up the world! Students wrote sentences, drew pictures, and made connections to how special they are! Well done Squantum students!

Thank you to our PBIS team and SQU PTO for sponsoring a Holiday Snack Cart for all teachers and staff this week! Teachers had the opportunity to select a drink, sweet snack, and salty snack on their room service tag that was hung on their door. Treats were delivered to each room in the morning! There were many smiles amongst the staff and was the perfect way to kick off the holiday week! Thank you!

We will be celebrating our December PBIS students of the month on Thursday, December 22nd. All SQU students are encouraged to wear their Savannah t-shirt, Squantum gear, or blue on this day for our virtual assembly. Students have been working on the character trait of Gratitude.

The virtual assembly announcing our winners and specialist superstars will be posted here on Thursday. Congratulations to all!

This is the final call for Holiday greeting cards! We are displaying holiday cards from SQU school families in the main corridor of the school. Please feel free to send one in with your child and we will add it to the board! Thank you!

Our lost and found pile continues to grow! Please remind your child to check the lost and found, located outside of the main office. There are many sweatshirts and coats that are missing their owners!

As we begin to get into colder weather, please be sure to send your child to school with a winter coat, hat, hood, mittens, etc. Classes go outside daily for recess.

All clothing items should be labeled!

Attached, please find the Squantum December calendar with important dates and information. We have a busy fun-filled month ahead!

Winter Rec has started for students in Grades 3-5. Rec will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:00-5:00pm. Students may enter using the Squantum School gymnasium door.

Squantum Student Council and Representative Bruce Ayers are collecting new, unwrapped toys for our annual Holiday Toy Drive. Toys will be collected in the main lobby until Friday, December 16th.

Thank you for helping families during the holiday season!

QPS and SQU school recently received a very generous donation from Cradles to Crayons of new and gently used clothing as well as new winter coats.

As a reminder, all students have the opportunity to receive a school breakfast, lunch, and/or milk as part of their daily routine. Lunch and breakfast continue to be free for ALL students again this year.

Breakfast will be served in the classrooms after students enter the building. Please remind your student to let their homeroom teacher know if they need breakfast.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria daily, as part of your child's schedule. Lunch is also served on early release days. This will be held at your child's snack time. The menu can be found below.

The PBIS team will model, teach, share and encourage the monthly character traits of Kindness/Acceptance/Inclusion, Curiosity, Gratefulness, Mindfulness, Equity and Fairness, Empathy, Positivity, Responsibility and Leadership. This will create a common language, unite our school community, and celebrate these important traits in our students.

DEIB at Squantum School will work together to create a safe and supportive environment where student’s individual physical and emotional needs are cared for. All students will feel a sense of belonging within our school community. At Squantum, school culture is everyone's responsibility all of the time.
