You may use paper, glitter, material/cloth, wool, and any other materials you think will help communicate your national costume.

This is a fun event, so come out and take a tour around the world!

Hillcrest Elementary School International Night

The dates of DDA's have been changed. Initially, they were due to begin next week (05.04.15), but now they are beginning the week of May 11th, 2015.

To recap, DDA's are Gwinnett County's end-of-nine-week test, which we have taken all during the year. They are an indicator of what your child have learned during that nine week period.

I will be giving all parents a copy of the results of the DDA's for the entire year at the end of the year, along with a report card.

5th Grade School Dance

Yes, it's time to dance! Our students have worked really hard all year long, and now it's time to enjoy ourselves. Drop your child off and leave the rest up to us. Please encourage your child to dress smartly; this is Nesbit's version of a Prom, so get the suits, ties, and pretty dresses out of the closet!

Oh, and by the way this is a NO PARENT ZONE!

Promotion Ceremony

The Promotion Ceremony is a special occasion for fifth grade. It's more like a celebration of all of their elementary career, as they transition to the next phase...Middle School. Through hard work and your support, they made it!

Here are the important details for the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony:

  • When: May 19th, 2015
  • Where: this information will be sent home in a flyer
  • Time: 6pm
  • How Much: Ticket Admission

Each student will have two invitations only, (one invite = one guest) for two guests. Due to restrictions with health and safety we have to abide with the total number of people that are allowed in the building at any one time. Decide in advance which two people will be attending!

Students, of couse do not need a ticket, they are our guests of honor.

5th Grade Cook Out

Every year, during Field Day we have a Cook Out for 5th Grade students. This is another 5th grade exclusive event...all the other grades are usually jealous; but it is another occasion for our eldest, and most hardworking students to celebrate their achievements.

Where: Nesbit Elementary Playground

When: Wednesday 20th, May 2015

How Much: $5

There is a charge of $5 for each student. This covers the cost of either a hot dog or hamburger, plus a drink, and chips.

Please note, this event is not a right, but a privilege. Students who have not complied with school rules or achieved their personal academic successes will be given the opportunity during this time to make up any outstanding work. Parents will be notified in advance of such arrangements.

Shout Outs!

Wittzle Pro Wizards

I wanted to congratulate a number of students that represented Nesbit Elementary at the Wittlzle Pro Tournament against a number of schools in Gwinnett County.

I would like to congratulate the following students and give recognition for a job well done!

  • Mia Restrepo
  • Jabel Senghore
  • Anwill Nyguen

Text Books, Library Books, Lunch Fees

  • Please remind students to begin returning their Social Studies and Science text books. We will be checking them in the next week.
  • If there is an outstanding balance for breakfast/lunch fees, please see a Cafetaria Staff Member
  • I usually take students to the library to check out books, again, like the text books, next week will be the deadline to return those library books.

Last Day of School

The last day of school is THURSDAY 21ST MAY, 2015.

You may be asking why we're breaking up a day later, but we need to make up a snow day, which we missed late last year during our (calmer) snow storm.
