Principal's Message

Dear Edison Nation,

It is with mixed emotions that I write this letter. I wanted you to know that on Thursday, July 21, the Ontario-Montclair School District Board of Trustees publicly announced assignments and promotions for the 2022-2023 school year. It was confirmed that I will be promoted to the role of Director for Child Welfare, Attendance & Records for OMSD.

This decision is bittersweet. While I am sad to be leaving this amazing community, I am excited about the opportunity that lies ahead.

Serving as Principal of Edison has been an amazing experience, and an impactful part of my life. When I was appointed principal in 2019, this community welcomed me with open arms, and rallied together to navigate a multitude of opportunities and challenges. Together, we added to the proud legacy that is Edison Nation. Just think, we have been honored for our work together in ensuring increased student achievement (Honor Roll School, CDE California Pivotal Practice Award and Title 1 Academic Achievement Awards) and our use of positive behavior interventions and supports (Gold PBIS Award). And perhaps best of all we are the reigning, defending Reindeer Run & Rudolph Dash Champions :)

It has been a pleasure partnering with you and all our volunteers, teachers and scholars that have made my time here at Edison such a memorable one. I truly believe Edison has nurtured an amazing group of talented and passionate faculty and staff, who together have made this an amazing place to learn and play.

Our Superintendent, Dr. James Q. Hammond and our Board of Trustees are committed to providing this community with an exceptional leader. At the July 7, 2022 Board meeting, the Board unanimously approved Mr. Mauricio Gormaz as a Principal on Assignment. He is now poised to be the next principal of Edison. Mr. Gormaz brings a wealth of passion, knowledge, experience and success as a school leader at the elementary, middle, and district levels.

I appreciate the many memories we have made together over the past three years and look forward to supporting Edison Nation in a different capacity. Lastly, I thank you for your support of Edison and our mission. I will always feel a part of Edison Nation.
