Principal's Post - A Weekly Note From Mr. Ortman
Happy Friday!
Several of our Mill Creek students and families helped at the community event: Feed My Starving Children, hosted by Del Val University last week. The students and parents helped package food for starving children in developing nations. They truly demonstrated the CREEKERS' code traits in the community! We are so proud of our Creekers!
Sincerely,
Mr. Shawn Ortman
Principal

Happy Friday Creekers!
The Central Bucks School District is committed to providing the safest possible environment for its students and staff. In order to maintain a safe learning environment, we constantly work with state and local police to learn and implement best practices in school safety and security. As you know, Central Bucks has adopted a set of federally endorsed protocols for an intruder on campus situation, known as ALICE. The acronym stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.
Previously all Central Bucks teachers, staff, students, and administrators have been trained in the ALICE protocols. Over the next two weeks we will provide age-appropriate training to all students new to Central Bucks and kindergarten students.
On Wednesday, October 23rd we will be conducting our first drill where we practice the ALICE protocols. During this drill, all students in grades 4-6 will be practicing how to secure a door and constructing a barricade using items from their classroom. Students in grades K-3 will only be discussing the protocols and the importance of listening to an adult during an emergency. Local law enforcement will be at Mill Creek for our drill.
I would encourage you to speak with your child(ren) about the drill. Please contact me if you have any questions about our security drill.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Amy Adelman

4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Geography Bee Club
Geography Bee Informational Meeting
Dear Parents and Students,
We are very excited to announce a new club for students in grades 4-6 ~ A Geography Bee Club. Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Adelman will be co-hosting the Geography Club for any interested 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. Our first informational session will be Wednesday, October 16th at 2:45 in the LGI.
Our tentative plan is to have bi-monthly sessions to discuss geography topics and practice Geography Bee-like questions as a large group. In December, we will hold a qualifying round within our club setting to determine the top ten students at Mill Creek. In January, we will hold the Mill Creek Geography Bee. In addition, we will provide the students with at-home resources to practice for the Geography Bee.
Any interested students in grades 4, 5, and 6 should attend the Geography Bee Informational Session in the LGI on Wednesday, October 16th at 2:45PM
Please let us know if you have any questions about the club.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristine Davis and Mrs. Amy Adelman
Veteran's Day
Mill Creek Elementary School is conducting a school wide letter writing campaign to thank our local heroes on Veterans’ Day. Students at Mill Creek want all our nation’s heroes to know how much we appreciate their service to our country. Letters are a meaningful way for our students to demonstrate support and our debt of gratitude for those who served and are presently serving our country.
To support our “local heroes,” we are requesting the names and addresses of any family members who are on active duty or retired members of the armed forces. Complete the form with the appropriate information if you wish to participate. Please print legibly and confirm the spelling of both name and address. Form(s) are due no later than 10/25/19. Thank you for your support!
If you have multiple children attending MCE, or you have multiple veterans, please submit a separate form for each.
