Breakfast & Tardies/Desayuno y Llegadas Tardes

We need some help with morning arrivals. More and more students are arriving late to school, including those who eat breakfast. The expectation is that students are in class and ready for their daily lessons by 7:45 am.

Students who eat breakfast at school will need to arrive by 7:30 am in order to have time to eat and be in class by 7:45am. Too many students are arriving between 7:40-7:45 am to eat breakfast.

We appreciate your help with this. It will allow teachers and students to have a smooth transition in the mornings.

You may check this by logging into your Family Access(Skyward account)

* revisa tu spam

* asegúrese de que el correo electrónico correcto aparezca en su Acceso familiar

Grades

As we head toward the end of the 2nd marking period, please be proactive in contacting parents of students who will potentially fail a subject before the marking period is over. We want to make parents a partner in the education of their child so staying in contact regarding successes, or misconceptions, is vital.

Please also consider when giving a grade below a 50%. You will never be asked to change a grade (unless there is evidence of a need to do so), however, keep in my mind that anything less than a 50 is extremely hard to recover from.

Thank you for all your hard work and dedication to our Taylor students!

Days off request

I have been asked to communicate the following with regard to requesting personal days:

*avoid Professional Development days

*avoid being absence for more than 3 days

Our district calendars are set in the previous school year so planning trips around the schedule should not be difficult. There are extenuating circumstances in which some things can not be planned around the calendar. If this occurs, please visit with Ms. Ketcham prior to finalizing the details of the time off.

Teachers and Jeans

Staff may wear jeans during Red Ribbon Week if you participate in the dress up of the day. If you decide not to participate, please wear professional attire.

Great PD for higher learners

These would be wonderful sessions for general education teachers who teach your gifted clusters.

Digital Citizenship

As yo prepare your lessons for November, please remember to incorporate the digital lessons provided below.

Digital Citizenship

Learning Technologies is continuing to provide resources for state mandated instruction on digital citizenship. The theme for November is Relationships and Communication. Links to the November digital citizenship curriculum folders (by grade levels) are included below. Additionally, there are promotional materials and parent instructional materials for administrators to share with their campuses and the community. As always, LT Coaches are available to answer any questions you may have.

#BISDGivesBack: We know our district and students are philanthropic, whether it’s collecting food for local food drives or raising funds in support of a cause. We plan to highlight these philanthropic efforts on social media with #BISDGivesBack. Please send us photos and a sentence on the philanthropic activities your students, student groups, staff or campus as a whole are doing, so that we can recognize them on social media. If you have already shared a picture from your campus this year, we ask that you resend them to Katelyn Tyler. Feel free to also post and share on Twitter by tagging @BurlesonISD and using #BISDGivesBack. While we want to encourage the use of Twitter, please do not forget to share pictures and news on Facebook, as we have a large following that tunes in only to Facebook for updates.
