Halogens
Group 17
What are Halogens and Where are they found?
Halogens consist of the elements Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine, and Astatine. All of these elements are toxic and non-metallic. Halogens are the only group of elements that contain three of the four states of matter at standard temperature and pressure. All of these Halogens form acids when bonded with Hydrogen. These elements can be found in the Earths crust.
Iodine
This is the Halogen Iodine. Iodine can form diatomic molecules as seen here. You can also see iodine in liquid form.
Halogens
Here you can see where the Halogens would be found on the Periodic Table. Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine, Iodine, and Astatine are pictured in the red.
Reaction
This would be the reaction of a Halogen being bonded with Hydrogen.
What can Halogens be used for?
Haloegns have many uses. These include toothpaste, vitamin supplements, baby formula, disinfectants, and insecticides.
