A Great First Week!
Car Rider Dismissal
Vehicles in the right lane will turn right toward Cages Bend Road. Vehicles in the left lane will turn left toward Gallatin Road. Please be patient as we safely transition to this new process. Also, please do not turn around in the Avondale access entrance because it blocks the buses.
You might anticipate a little more traffic this week as we have all of our kindergarten students joining us. By the end of the week we will be flowing smoothly. Thank you for your patience.
Morning Drop Off
Thank you to the Hendersonville Police Dept. for helping us on Friday to make sure that our vehicles weren't going too fast.
Please remember that there is a crosswalk at the back of the playground for our walkers and bike riders. It is important that you drive slowly, and please be cautious for walkers and bike riders.

Meet Our Assistant Principal, Mr. Thurman
Hello, Jack Anderson Family. My name is Jonathan Thurman. This is my second year as Assistant Principal at JAE. I grew up in the Westmoreland/Bethpage communities. I attended Westmoreland High School, graduating in 1995. I earned my bachelor’s degree by attending two years at Volunteer State Community College and then Tennessee State University. Later, I obtained my master’s degree in leadership from Tennessee Tech University and have most recently earned an instructional coaching certificate from David Lipscomb University.
My teaching career began at North Sumner Elementary School where I taught fourth and fifth grade for several years. I then went on to teach fourth grade at Bethpage Elementary School for fourteen years. I loved being in the classroom during those eighteen years. I have also taught children and adults in classes at the churches I’ve attended for the past 30 years. I hope to be a positive impact and a helpful resource for the teachers and students at JAE.
My wife’s name is Penny Thurman, and she teaches eighth grade ELA at Station Camp Middle School. We are the proud parents of three boys and one daughter. Noah is twenty and attends Lee University. Weston is a senior at Westmoreland High School. Reese is a sophomore at Beech High School, and Dylan is a freshman also at Beech High School. Penny and I recently married this past May. We just bought a house in the Long Hollow area. We are loving the process of watching our two homes become one. 😊
I look forward to a wonderful year at Jack Anderson.
