Thornhill Elementary PFC Newsletter
Volume 28, Issue 11, October 20, 2020
From our Principal
Dear Thunderbird families,
I hope everyone is doing well. It’s hard to believe that it has been almost 8 months since I have seen everyone! While I know these are challenging times for many, I hope you know that the Thornhill Staff misses seeing all of you!
A BIG THANKS to those who have already contributed donations to our Annual Fund! We know this is a hard time to be solicited. As you know, Thornhill’s funding is augmented by parent support in order to provide students with an enriched and well-rounded education. Having PE, classroom aides, African dance/drumming and a librarian are some ways that your donations contribute to our kids having the Thornhill experience. Thank you for your support!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

Thornhill Annual Fund
A big thank you to each of the Thornhill families who tore open those yellow envelopes and have already participated in the Annual Fund! We’re two weeks in, and so far, 17% of our families have participated. Together, we have raised $58,457 in donations and $9,780 in corporate matches, for a total of $68,037.
Let's hear it for Ms. Forbes’ Kindergarten class, who has taken the lead with 29% participation! If you contribute or set up an installment plan by the end of October (2 weeks to go!), your little Thunderbird will get a Thornhill baseball tee.
Thank you Thunderbirds!!!

Keep Earning for Thornhill
The Take Out Event at The Star on Grand was a MEGA success! Thanks to our wonderful Thornhill community and the generosity of The Star, we were able to raise $1,116.80 in just one day to help support our amazing school. Keep up the good work and continue to share these events with your social circle, neighbors and friends! (Save the date... Chipotle is on November 4th!)

About the Thornhill Newsletter
The Thornhill Parent-Faculty Club (PFC) eNews team publishes this weekly newsletter each Tuesday in the school year to communicate school, PFC and OUSD news, events and information.
Email submissions to our Newsletter Chair, Jill Evans, at firstname.lastname@example.org by 8 p.m. Thursday for approval—nothing sent after this will be included in the following week’s newsletter unless there are extremely compelling extenuating circumstances. It’s fine to include text in the body of the email with links and no formatting, and attach photos preferably as 150 x 150, 72 dpi JPG or GIFs only (not embedded in email or Word file). Submissions may be edited for spelling, grammar, brevity and clarity. Advertising and items not related to Thornhill are not accepted, as we need to keep the newsletter focused on need-to-know info for the community.
THANK YOU to everyone who submits articles and to PFC Board Members, Teachers, VPs of Communications Erin Proudfoot & Evie Nagy, PFC Presidents Rex Crum & Alicia Streight, and Principal Steve Daubenspeck. Member of Oakland Unified School District (OUSD).
