GUE Focus of the Week
This week our focus is IDENTIFYING LEARNING GAPS. I think almost everyone is done with reading and math STAR tests. During PLCs this week I want you focusing on students who are struggling. STAR results are just one data point. Barbara Couch, Aaron and I will be joining in on all PLCs this week to discuss, not only STAR scores, but what you have witnessed with students and past data sets that are available. We will be finalizing our Tier 2 and Tier 3 groups for reading and math RTI and discussing RTI plans as a whole.
Safety Drills
Great job on our fire drill! The building was cleared in under 2 minutes! Something I think I failed to mention last week is to shut your classroom door when you leave for a fire. It acts as a fire suppressant. We will be practicing our lockdown procedures this week. This is when you shut and lock your classroom door and hide your children from all windows and doors. Our lockdown drill will be sometime Tuesday. If you have questions, please let Aaron know.
Cleaner Spray Bottles
If you need your spray bottle of disinfectant refilled, please leave a sticky note on your door and leave the bottle in plain sight in your classroom. This is a new, green colored disinfectant with a minty smell. You spray it once in the morning, do not wipe, spray it again once in the afternoon and do not wipe. You do not use this disinfectant between classes, only twice a day.
Seating Charts
Please get an updated seating chart to Aaron ASAP! This helps us when it comes time to contact trace a student who has tested positive.
Election 2020
Our country is so politically charged right now. While you are encouraged to discuss the importance of the election, please do not engage in a discussion of politics. This being said, your students may talk among themselves if they are able to do so in a respectful and dignified manner.
School Wide Fundraisers
We are beginning 2 new fundraisers today. One is meat sticks. Students can get these $1 gems one of two ways: They can find Mr. Clemmons in the hallways in the morning before school. He will be roaming the halls with canisters of our 6 flavors. The other is afternoon sales. You will be sent a Google Form and asked to take orders in your homeroom for delivery in the afternoon. Orders are due by noon and will be delivered to your classroom before dismissal. The other fundraiser is our Grove spirit shirts and hoodies. Available in grey and red, t-shirts are $15 and hoodies are $25. 2xl are an additional $1, 3xl an additional $2 and 4xl an additional $3. Order forms will be sent home with your students today and orders may be placed in the office. You are welcome to gather all orders each morning and send them to the office with one person. We appreciate your help with the fundraisers!
