celebrating 25 years of excellence in catholic education
alleluia! He is risen!
happy easter!
Theme for the Year: Goodness
Our Motto: Teaching the Mind...Nourishing the Soul
At St. Joseph Catholic School, we are striving to become missionary disciples, recognizing the goodness of God in our lives and in the world around us, each and every day.
Our Mission and Vision Statements
Mission:
St. Joseph Catholic School provides students with a safe and prayerful learning environment, enveloped by an intimate community of active and faithful families.
Vision:
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Fort Worth are committed to opening the doors so that our students can reach further than the walls that would otherwise enclose them and therefore are able to recognize and cherish the eternal and transcendental goods of Truth, Beauty, and Goodness.
From the principal
It was announced today by Governor Abbott that all Texas schools are to remain in distance learning for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. If you would like to read his Executive Order, please click here.
I have been hoping we could return at some point in May, but praying God's will be done. So, here we are. We find ourselves remaining apart. Fr. Kelley's video message could not have come at a better time. Please be sure to watch it below. He speaks of making the best of this time. He is right. I know I personally have been so worried about all of you, that I need to remember to hug my college-aged son working on his computer, and hug my husband, working away on his. Each of us are "quarantined" in our own rooms, working to keep our own worlds afloat, maybe only seeing each other a few times during the day.
Fr. Kelley reminds me to stop for a moment and appreciate their actually being in the rooms around me! Every now and then I hear footsteps coming down the hall to my little office, and I find a smile growing on my face in anticipation to see if it be the approach of my son, or my husband. It is not normal for us three to be working in this fashion. We need to stop and "visit" one another more often. We tend to become quietly buried in our work.
On the flip-side of this, my husband has told me stories of his online conferences with one co-worker with three children home under the age of six. She often apologizes for the "noise level" of her home when she speaks to the group. My husband hears "hollering and pots and pans...sounds like World War III in the background" when she speaks. She can't get any work done until after 8:00 pm, but then when does she sleep? Her family is on top of her twelve-hours a day.
The dynamics between all of our households are very different right now, but one thing is consistent between us all...we need to be thankful for the ones we love. We need to step away from all that's happening, and together go for a walk, ride a bike, or throw a ball. Smile at one another, pray together, and celebrate that HE HAS RISEN! This too shall pass.

An Uplifting Message from Fr. Kelley
Happy Easter!
It is a joyful time when we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord, but it is also a sad time when we find ourselves sequestered in our homes and not able to get out and about.
But do not lose faith and do not be hopeless over this.
Rejoice, it is Easter!
It also is an opportunity for us to get closer to each other. Now is the time to eat together, to share your lives together, to pray together.
Take this important time to pray.
I am praying for all of you.
God Bless you,
Fr. Kelley

Goodness Bible Verse for April
Virtue for the month of April
saintly quote to ponder
No one should follow what he considers to be good for himself, but rather what seems good for another. Let them put Christ before all else; and may he lead us all to everlasting life.

Construction update
Here is where the week has brought us...closer and closer to a finished product!
“Does it matter the size?” LEGO Challenge - Consider something that is usually small in reality. Write your idea in the chat box on Zoom. Next, build a BIG version of the thing you thought of. It is usually a small thing, but we are building it in a bigger size. Have fun with this! You can use drawing paper to draw the project if you do not have LEGOs.
Send a photo of your work to: slopez@stjosephtx.org
We will publish projects on the SJCS Library Blog page:
