Green apples were the class favorite!
Learning This Week
Reading- This week students will continue to deepen their learning about features of fiction, including identifying characters and setting. Students should recognize differences between fiction and nonfiction and be able to decide if a book is fiction or nonfiction by the end of first quarter.
Writing- This week students will write about special places. As writers, we get ideas from our daily experiences and the books we read. Our goal this year is to easily generate ideas to write about from books and our experiences.
Math- Students will explore subtraction strategies. By the end of first grade, students should be able to fluently subtract within 1-10 and have strategies to subtract within 1-20.
Science- This week we will study farm animals and their products. Students should be able to identify major products given by farm animals like cows, pigs, chickens, goats, and sheep.
