How it works

Sleep Cycle is a app that tracks and analyzes your sleep as you're sleeping. It wakes you up between an 30 minute time interval, in your lightest sleeping phase. It tracks audio and movements your make overnight and calculates your sleep quality. The app also tracks the amount of step you took in the day, because this can have an effect on your sleep. There are limits to app if you get it for free, but if you want to farther your sleep analyze then you can get premium. With premium the app tracks your sleep over the course of a week, and shows your averages in sleep quality and the amount of time you're sleeping. There are many other features that help you track and improve your sleep quality.


This app is super easy to use, all you have to do is leave it on all night long on your night stand. It doesn't require any personal information if you don't sign up for premium. My favorite thing about this app is the alarm. The alarm is calm and soothing, and I would recommend this app just for the alarm. The only feature that I didn't like is how it doesn't tell what your sleep quality means. It tells your sleep quality, but doesn't explain what that means. Since this app is for tracking your sleep, you only have use it at night. This means that you don't have to leave it on all day, so you have access to your phone and don't have to leave the app on. If I was to recommend this to anyone, it would people who hate the loud annoying alarms. The alarms also also benefits middle schoolers or people any student who has to get up early for school, because alarms on your phone only go off at a specific time. It could go off in your deepest sleeping phase, and if you're like me you won't hear it. The benefit of having this over a time interval instead of a set time is the fact that it wakes you up in your lightest sleeping phase. And based off my experience, I've been less tired ever since I started using the app.

Other things to know

Before I started using sleep cycle, I was unsure how it would help me. I was a bit skeptical on how a sleep tracking app would actually help my sleeping habits. But, when I start using the app, I soon found out. Every morning I would wake up to my alarm. Here's the thing, I would always make my alarm the loudest most annoying sound so that I would actually wake up in the morning. On sleep cycle it has it own alarm sounds. The sounds are calm, but (for me) are as affective as the loud annoying alarms. Another thing that this app helped me change was the amount of hours I would sleep. In a perfect world I would sleep around 9:30 - 10 and wake up around 6:30 - 6:45, which is about 8-10 hours of sleep. But the truth is this isn't a perfect world. Sometimes I get 7 hours of sleep, something 9, and sometimes 12. So with the help of this app I tracked the amount of hours of sleep I got during the school week, and I calculated the amount of hours I would need to sleep on the weekends. If I could rate this app I would give it a 4.2 out a five stars.
