FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT
This is the fifth year that we have gone “homework free” in conjunction with Veterans Day. In part, as the district continues to focus attention on the social-emotional well-being of our students and staff, as well as embrace the theme of "Every Student. Every Day. Whatever It Takes," we are looking to adjust their homework schedule for one weekend. Annually, the issue of homework is one that has generated a lot of discussion across the region and it has been reported to teachers and administrators that schedules and stress levels continue to grow as the year progresses. We hope that a homework free weekend can help relieve some of that stress.
In addition, we have used this time away from homework to allow our students and staff, and their families, to focus on the importance of recognizing Veterans Day. In lieu of homework, it is our hope that members of our school community, as they have over the years, will find the time on Veterans Day to thank a Veteran they may know for their service to our country. The person they reach out to could be a relative, a neighbor or a friend. In addition, if members of our school community can attend the Veterans Day Ceremony on November 11th at Veterans Memorial Park, I know that the dedicated group of men and women, who have given so much to our country, would greatly appreciate the gesture.

REMINDERS FOR PARENTS
SAVE THE DATE - Wednesday November 20th
In celebration of National School Lunch Week, Grade one parents and guardians are invited to join their child for lunch. An invitation and lunch order form went home with grade 1 students this week. Please forward your lunch order and payment as soon as possible if you plan to attend.
STUDENT INFORMATION UPDATE
The Marshfield Public Schools will now be using workflows in the Aspen Family portal to complete the "back to school" emergency contact forms that have traditionally been done on paper. Parents/guardians will need to use their Family accounts (not Student accounts) to complete the "Student Information Update" workflow for each student, and the "Parent Information Update" workflow for themselves.
Instructions for completing the information update workflows can be found here: https://bit.ly/2NGfedW
If you are unable to log in, please contact aspen@mpsd.org or call GWS (781) 834-5060.
