November 10th @ Sidney City Schools (Ohio)

The Midwest Regional Educational Service Center (MRESC) is partnering with Vision Rehab OT founder Robert Constantine, OTR\L, to bring the following professional development seminar to west central, Ohio on November 10th in Sidney, Ohio.

AUDIENCE: School-based and outpatient therapists working with pediatric populations.

Workshop Description & Overview

In this course, Robert Constantine presents the evidence for undiagnosed vision problems and explains what eye care professional is best to assess your children.

  • After a discussion of anatomy and physiology as well as common congenital diagnoses, Robert explains the clinical techniques for assessing eye movement problems with videos to help recognize appropriate and pathological movements and lab time to practice.

  • A discussion of common eye pathologies leads to statistics on prevalence of vision problems in specific special needs populations. The treatment section shares common optometric techniques along with simple (and cheap) activities that any therapist can start using the next day in the clinic.

  • Robert shares videos and case studies from his clinic to make the experienced therapist and new graduate comfortable assessing and treating eye movement problems.

In this course you will:

  • Recognize the signs of a student having difficulty with vision even when the screening says they are 20/20

  • Optometrists and Ophthalmologists and Vision Therapy…learn the difference and learn who is the right one to help your student.

  • Explore the evidence linking common eye movement problems and academic performance

  • Practice assessment techniques to find the eye movement problems that are affecting your student’s performance.

  • Learn the unique visual characteristics of the most common pediatric diagnoses like ADHD, Autism and Down Syndrome and how to best help our special needs children
