Help Us Plan For The Future
As we plan for the future in our district, we would like your input to help us shape what our schools will look like for the coming years. In order to successfully address changes such as growth, adjustments in funding, and more- it becomes even more important to have a clear plan and vision for what we value in our schools, where we can improve, and how we're going to continue ensuring growth.
We believe we are most successful when we work with our community. Please take our community survey at https://envisionestacadaschools.org and help us build a strong strategic plan for continued growth in the Estacada School District! We will be reporting on the anonymous survey results in March, and explaining how your input may shape our plans.
Click on the Green Banner below to access the survey.
Chromebook Safety
The Estacada School District has made some significant safety upgrades to our student-assigned Chromebooks. Schools are required to have protection measures. These measures must block or filter Internet access to pictures that are: (a) obscene; (b) child pornography; or (c) harmful to minors. While those filters have always been in place at the school, this filtering process is now embedded in the Chromebook itself and is active not only at the school but with any network a school Chromebook is connected to - including your home network. Additionally, the ability to use Proxy Servers and Virtual Personal Networks to get around the filter, also known as Internet Tunneling, is also being addressed by the Estacada School District and the Clackamas Education Service District as they become aware of vulnerabilities - it's a moving target. We realize that no security is 100% foolproof, but the technology office will continue to prioritize the safety of our students as best practices for Internet safety are updated.
In addition to filtering, EHS also teaches appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networks and in chatrooms and awareness of cyberbullying and proper responses. This is done during Wednesday homeroom periods. Each month students review a different aspect of digital citizenship to help familiarize themselves with critical thinking, safe behavior, and responsible participation in our digital world.
