Happy Holidays
The staff at Clara Barton/Hawthorne would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy holiday season. However your family chooses to celebrate the season, or if you just enjoy the month of December in North Dakota, we want you to know that we value you as a member of our school family. Please enjoy your break and we will see you all in the new year.
Winter Weather Readiness
Parents, we appreciate your cooperation in helping your child be ready for winter weather. At both of our campuses, students go outside for recess each day for up to 20 minutes. We currently send students out until the combined temperature and wind-chill reaches –15 degrees. This means that our students must be ready for the cold. Boots, hats, mittens, scarves, and snow pants are important items while staying warm during winter play. Thank you for helping your child be weather-wise.
Winter Recess Expectations:
With the snow comes new recess expectations….
- Students will take advantage of outdoor recess as long as the temps are –15 degrees or higher. Please wear appropriate winter clothing. Students are only allowed to stay inside with a doctor's note.
- Children with boots may play in the snow. Those in shoes will stay on the sidewalk.
- Only mother nature can throw snow!
- You are welcome to play on snow hills as long as there is no pushing or digging of interior tunnels.
Ice Skates Wanted!
The CBH Ice Skating Classic will be here soon. Many students do not own their own ice skates and we provide these for every student to be able to skate during their physical education skating lessons and during the Classic. If you have any skates you would like to donate to our school, please bring them to either office. Your donations are appreciated!!
