DHS Update March 15, 2020
From Mr. Hatfield
Please see www.csdecatur.net/covid19 for district updates
Healthy students who need to retrieve belongings that are necessary for learning or of significant value from DHS may come in on Monday, March 16th or Wednesday, March 18th from 12 pm to 7 pm. Any student needing to check out a Chromebook because they do not have a computer at home should also come in at these times. Please only come up to school if you need to pick something up. DHS is not a place to congregate or meet up for any other reason while we remain closed. We will have paper copies of some assignments available on Wednesday. To limit the number of students in the building at one time, we ask that students abide by the following schedule, where possible:
Last names A-H: 12:00-2:00 pm
Last names I-N: 2:00-4:00 pm
Last names O-T: 4:00-6:00 pm
Last names U-Z: 6:00-7:00 pm
If you are not well enough to come to school, please let me know and we’ll do our best to make a plan to help you.
Medication in the DHS clinic should be retrieved by parents between 9 am and 2 pm on Monday, March 16th. If you are unable to retrieve your medications during this time, please contact Nurse Fletcher directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
As this temporary new normal sets in, we ask that everyone abide by the following regulations while on campus. We're all working hard to minimize infection risks right now and ask that appropriate distance be maintained between people on campus.
Students and parents must enter through the doors off of Commerce Drive
Students and parents must not congregate while in the building and should plan to stay only long enough to retrieve belongings from their lockers, the clinic, and/or the library
Chromebooks will be available in the DHS library for students without computers at home. While parents may bring students to DHS, we ask that only students enter the building, unless medication or a Chromebook needs to be picked up. Medication must be picked up by a parent or guardian. Chromebooks can be picked up by either a parent or a student.
Some teachers may be in the building between 12 and 3. They will be either going to and from their rooms or they’ll be in their rooms with their doors closed. Please do not stop in to talk to teachers or stop them in the hall to chat.
If you are unable to open your locker, please stop by the library and let us know.
Thank you for your patience and consideration during this closure. If you need anything, please let us know. Going forward, I’m going to send out all information by both email and via link in a text message to maximize the effectiveness of these communications. Please plan on getting at least a few more messages from me this week.
