January 2022 Update

Happy New Year!

Hello Lanesville Families!

Welcome back! We are off to a great start to 2022! We were hoping to start back in-person and not with an eLearning day, but the weather seems as though it did not want to cooperate with us. Hopefully we will get to see all of our friends tomorrow!

We are hitting the ground running with NWEA testing. Our testing window will be open from the day we return until January 21.

We are looking forward to all the great things the second semester will bring!

Thank you for your continued help and support!

Mood Music Workshop

In December our 5th and 6th graders had the opportunity to experience how music changes your mood in film, video games, and cartoons. Guest artist Joshua Thompson, classically trained pianist from Indianapolis, encouraged students to work collaboratively to create stories based on specific emotions (sad, anger, happy, scared, nervous). He then played the mood music to enhance the story. Mr. Thompson is an artist from Arts For Learning Indiana, a provider of arts education programs around the state of Indiana. Mood Music workshop was funded by Lanesville’s Indiana Art Commission grant, which is generously matched by the Harrison County Community Foundation. The students had a great time creating and sharing their stories while some even formed a skit!
