Welcome Back!
Dear Students & Families,
Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year. The Mockingbird staff is excited to start a new year. We hope that you and your family enjoyed a relaxing summer. On August 8, 2019 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., Mockingbird will be hosting a Back to School Night. Please join us while you drop off your school supplies, visit with your teacher, and check out your classroom!
In addition to this letter please look for the following:
Free and Reduced Lunch Application – It takes a minimum of 2 weeks to process these applications and until approved you are responsible for any lunch balance. Please get them in as soon as possible to avoid any unnecessary charges.
Drop off and pick up procedures (attached below).
All class lists will be posted on the front of the building by the main office by Friday August 2nd.
As we begin a new year, we have new staff to introduce and staff changes to inform you about..
New Staff: Erika Frieden - Student Wellness Counselor Becca Maynard - Resource Deanna Tompkins - Resource Sara Bush - ELL Jodell Shymkewicz - Reading Melissa Wolken - Instructional Coach
Staff Changes - Mrs. Halstead moving from 2nd grade to 1st grade and Mrs. Flower moving from 3rd grade to 2nd grade.
The first day of school for preschool and kindergarten is Friday, August 9th. Dismissal will be at 1:30.. All other students will join preschool and kindergarten on Monday, August 12th. Please do not drop your child off before 7:50. There will be no supervision until 7:50, and we want to ensure the safety of your child. We will allow all parents to walk your child to their classroom on August 9th and 12th but after those dates we ask that you please say goodbye to your child at the stairs. We do this to ensure safety for our staff and students. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
Listed below are important times to remember when planning for the school day.
Breakfast starts at 7:55 a.m.
Learning starts at 8:15 a.m.
School dismisses at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Early Release Days for Mockingbird are on Wednesday. School Dismisses at 1:30 p.m. on those days.
If your phone number, address, or email changes throughout the year, please make corrections in student verification so we can have the most up-to-date information just in case there is an emergency.
We look forward to working with you and your family, as we strive to provide high-quality learning experiences to our students. Please feel free to stop by, call, or e-mail with your questions or concerns. We are excited to start the year and look forward to partnering with you and your child.
I would also like to invite all Preschool and Kindergarten parents to a breakfast with the principal at 8:15am in the gym on August 9th. This will be an opportunity to meet other parents and to ask any questions you might have.
