Inspiring the Adventure of Learning
October 2, 2019
Wild and Free Conference is coming to California!
I am so excited to offer this to our families! April 30th will be a one-day school-wide conference offered only to Inspire schools. It will be all the same speakers and all the same feel for a fraction of the cost. All ticket orders can be placed through the EOS. Please spread the word ASAP as these conferences tend to sell out within a few weeks. The standard conference will begin selling tickets next week so it's important our families know about our Inspire reduced rate first because all tickets are non-refundable!
MLK Contest
The theme for our 2020 Martin Luther King Jr. Art, Essay, and Speech Contests has been released! We encourage students to participate in all of the competitions for which their grade level is designed (Art: Grades K-12; Essay and Speech: Grades 4-12). Your students will be basing their projects on the following theme:
The Dream 2020: The Future Begins Today
Please refer to the attached prompt for a detailed description of the focus of this year’s theme. Please visit our website at mlk.fcoe.org to register and to find more information on contest rules.
Thank you for making it possible for your students to participate! Please forward this email to any other teachers you feel would be interested in having students compete in the contests.
Community Connections
All Central Community Connections events are listed on Inspiration Station but may feel tricky to find sometimes. Using the search box will help you narrow down your search tremendously. Families can also visit our Central CA Parent Resource Site to find CC events right HERE.
We also have a monthly newsletter that is sent by the local Community Coordinators and then posted to a variety of websites for families. Here is the parent Community Connections site and this is just another option to FIND the FUN!
If you would like to receive a monthly newsletter from the Community Coordinator in your area you are in luck!
Fresno/Clovis October Newsletter
Oakhurst/Coarsegold October Newsletter
Feel free to email the coordinator in your area and ask to be added to their email list. If you ever have a question or suggestions, please reach out to Michelene Fitzgerald.Michelene serves Central California Community Connections Teams & families. Her email is Michelene@inspireschools.org.

Lending LIbrary
We are aware that many families are waiting for curriculum orders to be processed, and the Lending Library may be just the resource you need to borrow curriculum and educational activities to use with your children while you wait.
Our friendly and helpful Lending Librarians, Jill Johnson and Debbie Kimzey are more than willing to help you in any way they can!
The nearest Lending Library to most of our students in Yosemite Valley Charter School and Monarch River Charter School is in Fresno. For students living in Monterey or San Benito counties, items requested online can be picked up at the Lending Library Truck visit. Details about Library Locations and Drop Offs can be found here.

SAT
College application season is in full swing! As part of the application process, most 4-year colleges/universities require a student to take either the SAT or ACT. If your student plans to apply for admission to a 4-year college for the Fall of 2020 and has not yet taken the SAT, please register ASAP! The regular registration deadline for the November 2 SAT is fast-approaching. In order to avoid the increased cost of late registration, please be sure to register for the SAT prior to October 3.
HS students who would like a Fee Waiver for SAT testing should direct their request to their HS Counselor. For students in Yosemite Valley Charter and Monarch River Academy, the counselor is Carmen Marroquin. She can be reached at cmarroquin@inspireschools.org or 209-720-7177.
