Carmel Media Center

We're here for you!

Information ~ Imagination ~ Inspiration (Our philosophy)

At the Carmel Media Center, we want to help teachers and students become effective users of ideas and information, as is the mission of school media centers across the country. At Carmel Christian, we also want to help students develop a lifelong love of literature and imagination, which can be key to understanding the amazing journey that is a walk with Christ. C.S. Lewis said that his "baptism of imagination" was the starting point to his journey of faith, and his knowledge of literature helped him be gripped by the reality of the gospel narratives. "I was now too experienced in literary criticism to regard the Gospels as myths. They had not the mythical taste. And yet the very matter which they set down in their artless, historical fashion . . . was precisely the matter of great myths. If ever a myth had become fact , had been incarnated, it would be just like this . . . Here and here only in all time the myth must have become a fact; the Word, flesh; God, man. This is not 'a religion' nor 'a philosophy.' It is the summing up and actuality of them all." In other words, the more he read (and wrote!) great, imaginative literature, the more the word of God became real to him.
