The Science of Reading & ELs
How to Improve English Language Learner Literacy Skills
Why Talk About the Science of Reading?
The reading process is complex, steeped in neuroscience, developing, and training multiple systems within the brain that are working together in tandem. The consistent decline in NAEP test scores has caused our nation to reflect on how we currently teach children to read and react with major changes across the state and the country. After all, teaching reading is rocket science!
This series will give an overview of the science of reading. It will allow professionals to learn research and practices that best support English Language Learners in their literacy development.
Join Ohio Literacy Leads, Michelle Elia and Carolyn Turner as they take us through this journey and share how instructional practices grounded in science can be life-altering for our learners.
Participants are encouraged to register for all 4 sessions. Certificates of Attendance will be sent after each LIVE session.
