Newsletter Week 8 Term 1
Meeanee School 23rd March, 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR
This week I'd like to welcome Riley Joe to our school, who has joined Tui as of yesterday. I hope you enjoy your time at Meeanee School.
The amazing Jason stopped in yesterday and serviced all of our bikes so that students can safely get riding now that the pool has closed for the season. On that note the Board of Trustees received an updated idea for our pool dosing system. The Board has now decided upon a Theralux Water Management System with Quantum U/V and Salt Water Chlorination. This is an automated unit where when the chlorine level gets low, it senses this and activates the salt water chlorinator run to produce chlorine. Paired with the Quantum U/V System which purifies the water and reduces the free chlorine level the pool needs to operate at. It also has an inbuilt p.H doser where as the p.H increases or decreases, it senses this and adds hydrochloric acid or p.H decrease into the pool to combat this. We will be one of the first schools in Napier with this system and we would like to take the opportunity to thank Taylors Pools and Spas for their work on this.
COVID-19 is starting to effect more of our school community. Over the first two days of this week we have had 20% of our school away isolating. We wish all families the best for their isolation period and hope that their symptoms aren't too bad. Learning packs have been dropped off to most families. So just remember if you are in this situation please let us know and we will sort something out for you.
Be Kind, Stay Safe,

Sandpit Upgrade
On Monday Mrs M's order of new sand turned up at school. Now we are in the process of transferring the new sand into our sandpit. Unfortunately the rain has hit and it's caused a few moving issues.
Relay for Life
It will be a second mufti day in a row! Students can wear purple or white to support the cause.
Thanks to those people who have made donations to our staff page. A lot of staff have been affected in one way or another by Cancer. This is our opportunity to give back.
MOANANUI ART
Drawing Liv's drawing of Charli D'amelio has been drawn with Jim Cooper's style in mind. | Clay Model Once the modelling was finished and dried it is important they are undercoated in white before the detail is added. | Painted Liv has followed the same colour scheme as her plan with great care, and attention to detail has been taken during the painting process. |
Clay Model
Drawing Using a photograph of a famous person Lily has created a plan for her clay model in the style that Jim Cooper uses. | Painting Here is Lily paying close attention whilst painting her clay model using acrylics. | Finished model Here's Lily's painted, clay model. The whole process has taken six weeks. We are all keen to have another go! |
Drawing
Drawing You can see Maia has paid particular attention to the detail and colouring when drawing her plan. | Clay Model Turning the drawing into a clay model is very challenging. Getting the model proportions right takes a lot of time and care. | Painted Students were only given primary and secondary colours along with skin tones. They have all worked hard with mixing and blending in their attempts to match their designs. A success project all round. |
