Newsletter Week 8 Term 1

Meeanee School 23rd March, 2022

MESSAGE FROM THE SWIVELLY CHAIR

This week I'd like to welcome Riley Joe to our school, who has joined Tui as of yesterday. I hope you enjoy your time at Meeanee School.

The amazing Jason stopped in yesterday and serviced all of our bikes so that students can safely get riding now that the pool has closed for the season. On that note the Board of Trustees received an updated idea for our pool dosing system. The Board has now decided upon a Theralux Water Management System with Quantum U/V and Salt Water Chlorination. This is an automated unit where when the chlorine level gets low, it senses this and activates the salt water chlorinator run to produce chlorine. Paired with the Quantum U/V System which purifies the water and reduces the free chlorine level the pool needs to operate at. It also has an inbuilt p.H doser where as the p.H increases or decreases, it senses this and adds hydrochloric acid or p.H decrease into the pool to combat this. We will be one of the first schools in Napier with this system and we would like to take the opportunity to thank Taylors Pools and Spas for their work on this.

COVID-19 is starting to effect more of our school community. Over the first two days of this week we have had 20% of our school away isolating. We wish all families the best for their isolation period and hope that their symptoms aren't too bad. Learning packs have been dropped off to most families. So just remember if you are in this situation please let us know and we will sort something out for you.

Be Kind, Stay Safe,

Assembly Winners - Friday 18th March

Sandpit Upgrade

Last Friday Mrs M organised a small working bee to clear out the sandpit of our old sand. Thanks to those families who turned up to help us on Friday afternoon. It was great to have an opportunity to have you in at school.

On Monday Mrs M's order of new sand turned up at school. Now we are in the process of transferring the new sand into our sandpit. Unfortunately the rain has hit and it's caused a few moving issues.

School Athletics Day 2022

Sadly due to the weather and COVID-19 we have had to postpone our Athletics Day until Term 4. Monday the 14th of November is our new date. Hopefully there will be less restrictions by then.

HOUSE COLOUR DAY

We would still like our students to come in their House Colours tomorrow!

New students have all been put into a House so you can check with us if they are not sure of their colour.

We look forward to seeing the bright vibrant colours walk through our school gate.

Relay for Life

Teachers have entered into the Relay for Life event. Sadly like a number of other events this can't take place as usual at the Hawke's Bay Regional Sports Park. We were going to complete this event on Saturday 12th March and then we were interrrupted by a member needing to isolate. So as a fun event we have now decided to run it on Friday 25th March. All staff will take part and students will be going out in groups to circulate around the bike track.

It will be a second mufti day in a row! Students can wear purple or white to support the cause.

Thanks to those people who have made donations to our staff page. A lot of staff have been affected in one way or another by Cancer. This is our opportunity to give back.
