Types of ribbons for Floral Design
Ribbon Textures/Types
Acetate
This is the most common ribbon in floral design. It is a crunchy type ribbon used for vase arrangements and much more.
Satin
This is a silky ribbon that is most commmonly used in weddings, especially for the bride's bouquet.
Velvet
This is a soft ribbon because of the fuzz on it. It is used for holiday arrangements, particularly Christmas.
Burlap
This ribbon can be used for wreaths. It has a rough texture, like a rope's.
Curling
This is a very common ribbon typically used in many types of arrangements. It is thin and smooth, and can easily be curled, which is obvious in the name.
Chiffon
This ribbon is very thin and decorative, usually used in homecoming mums.
Wire
This ribbon has wires in it so you can bend it to any form.
Grosgrain
This ribbon has grooves in it for texture. Used for hairbows.
Tulle
This is a very thin, transparent ribbon primarily used in dresses and skirts such as tutus.
