Ferson Creek eNews

February 25, 2022

From the Principal, Kristy McKnight

Our Lost and Found is overflowing with items, including some winter coats! If your child is missing anything, I highly encourage you to remind them to check it. We will be donating items during Spring Break, so have them look prior to that time.

A couple of exciting PTO updates: Our Nothing Bundt Cakes fundraiser goes through tomorrow! There's a flyer below with all the details. After a short hiatus, we are so excited to welcome back After School Enrichment. Detailed information, including course descriptions, and the sign up is below. The Sign Up Genius will open tonight at 7:00 pm. Also, PTO is looking for volunteers to help organize students, get kids to the correct classes and supervise. If you are able to help, please also sign up on the "Volunteers" tab of the Sign Up Genius.

Have a great weekend,
Kristy McKnight

After School Enrichment Is Here!

The Ferson Creek PTO is pleased to bring back another year of exciting After School Enrichment (ASE) classes! We hope these classes give our students an opportunity to try something new, to improve a skill, or simply to have a little fun!

Most classes are 1 day long, though a few are 2 day workshops. Classes run from 3:20 PM to 4:20 PM:

  • Monday, March 7, 2022 to Thursday, March 10, 2022, and
  • Monday, March 14, 2022 to Thursday, March 17, 2022.

While some classes are free, others do have a cost for materials. There is also an opportunity to make a donation to the Ferson Creek PTO, so that we can continue providing programs and support for our students, staff, and school.

Registration for classes will run from Friday, February 25, 2022, at 7:00 PM until Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:59 PM. Register early – classes fill very quickly!

ASE Registration: https://fersoncreekpto.tiny.us/2022FersonASERegistration

Please register one child at a time.

NOTE: all parents/guardians are encouraged to volunteer in order to make ASE a fun, safe, and efficient program. Volunteers will be needed from 2:30-4:30 pm on March 7-10 & 14-17. While we will need help each day, we understand it may not be possible for volunteers to be available all 8 days - that's ok! We'd love to have your help on any day that you are able.

Volunteer Sign up : https://fersoncreekpto.tiny.us/2022FersonASEVolunteers

At the end of the registration process, you will be prompted to pay via credit card for any classes that have fees. Payment is required to ensure your child's participation in those ASE classes. If you prefer not to pay online, please contact Shannon Puri (630-209-9908, ShannonPuri@hotmail.com ). Please note that classes are filled on a first come, first served basis and opting not to use the online payment system may delay the process.

Additional information:

  • If a student is absent from school or becomes ill during the school day, they are not to attend ASE classes.
  • Please remind your child(ren) when they are scheduled to stay after school for an ASE class.
  • Please send a healthy, dry snack from home (no nut products), as students will have time prior to the start of ASE to eat.
  • Students are to be picked up by an adult inside the front lobby no later than 4:25 PM.
  • If D303 cancels school and/or after-school activities due to inclement weather or other causes, there will be no ASE classes. The PTO will make every effort to reschedule the classes, however, there is no guarantee as this is dependent on the availability of the instructors. The PTO will refund money if they are unable to reschedule a class.

By completing the online registration process via SignUpGenius, you recognize and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury to participants in this program/activity, and you voluntarily agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, that your minor child/ward or you may sustain as a result of said participation. You further agree to waive and relinquish all claims your minor child/ward or you may have as a result of participating in this program/activity against Ferson Creek School, including its officials, agents, volunteers, and employees.

5th Grade Human Growth and Development Presentation

Fifth-grade classes will be attending the Human Growth and development presentation on Friday, March, 11. The presentation consists of a narrated PowerPoint, including a short video, and time to submit questions. The school nurses will review the questions and return answers to students within the week. Boys and girls programs are similar in content but will be presented and facilitated separately within your student's classroom. A letter will be sent to 5th-grade parents with more details via their classroom e-news. As a parent, you have the right to request that your child not participate in this presentation. If after reviewing the information you would prefer your child not participate, please submit a written letter to the principal by March 4, 2022. If you have any questions about the presentation you may contact your building Certified School Nurse, Wendy Landers at 331-228-6068.

Lunch/Breakfast Update

Moving forward, your child's lunch and breakfast selections will go through their Pushcoin accounts, meaning you will be able to view that your child has ordered a lunch and/or breakfast. There is no charge associated with either, as all continue to be free. The only charges will be ala carte, such as an individual milk, juice box or water.
