Virtue of the Month - Mercy
What exactly is mercy? The dictionary says, "compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone whom it is within one's power to punish or harm." Catholic Daily Reflections says, "Mercy is an act of love given to one in need without any selfish motivation."
How do we show mercy in our lives? How do we receive mercy? How do we teach our children about mercy? This month, in this season of Lent, let us reflect on mercy and the many ways in which it is present in our lives. For age-appropriate projects on mercy, see the link below.
If you are interested in receiving the Daily Gospel Reflection, please click below. Each daily reflection includes a gospel passage, a reflection, and a prayer. During Lent, there are also "Songs of Notre Dame: A Lenten Offering."
REMINDERS
Daylight Savings Time - Sunday, March 8th
Lenten Challenge
STOP something that keeps you from growing closer to God - could be an unhealthy habit, wasting time on social media, unkind words or actions, letting something inside our soul that is not good, true, or honorable.
DO something to feed your soul! (Prayer, read the bible more, renew your commitment to go to Mass, attend the sacraments more frequently, commit to listen to a reflection video)
LOVE in your actions - Love is to desire the good for another - to think of the needs of others before ourselves. Commit to do something selfless this Lenten Season.
2020 Oklahoma Capacity Survey

Middle School Electives - Home Ec
This quarter in Home Economics, students have largely focused on food-related activities. With discussions on table manners, formal etiquette, proper dress codes, and public speaking, these gentlemen have stepped out of their comfort zone and really embraced a more formal attitude in class. They have learned to make a meal based on a recipe, and to present that recipe to their classmates. The students have enjoyed being able to serve their classmates, and they got really excited about putting their kitchen safety to the test!
In addition to preparing and serving their food, the students have learned about proper table setting, serving and dining etiquette, and the importance of cleaning up. (Parents, feel free to have them practice that last skill at home!) Next week, parent Mark Vasquez has volunteered to teach this class full of young gentlemen how to tie a tie and iron a shirt properly. It has been a really fun and instructive semester for this class of Home Ec students!
