Education Connection
August 2022
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the 2022-2023 school year! I sincerely hope that your student and family found time to rest and relax during the summer.
Education provides us a unique opportunity for a new beginning each September. The new school year gives each of us a moment to reflect on our values and focus on what we hope to accomplish in the coming year. We know this year will bring challenges filled with excitement and opportunities provided to students. I see the work we do as a puzzle; in order to achieve success as a District, we all must work together and all of the pieces of the puzzle need to fit together to form the big picture…student success.
That success requires the systematic implementation of a meaningful and rigorous curriculum utilizing proven instructional strategies. I am excited to begin a focused and measurable plan to monitor our success with instruction and to observe its impact on our local student performance. We know that sound instructional practices are what have the most significant impact on the academic outcomes of students and we are responsible to provide the best education possible to each and every student.
As we begin that process, I invite you to review my 90-Day Entry Plan that blends the District's Strategic Plan Initiatives, my superintendent goals, and my own insights that have been shaped by feedback provided through staff and family surveys and listening sessions that took place at the end of last school year. I'm looking forward to continuing those conversations throughout this school year as we learn and grow together.
I am looking forward to a great school year! I hope you and your family enjoy your last few weeks of summer and thank you for your partnership as we work together to prepare each student to be successful.
Sincerely,
Cory Hirsbrunner, Ed.D.

Food Service and Meal Changes
Universal free meals through the federal government have expired. However, for this school year only, the Food Service Department will provide universal free breakfast to ALL students and free lunch to any student who qualifies for free or reduced price meals!
All families are encouraged to apply for free & reduced price school meals. Families who qualify for free or reduced price meals also qualify for discounted school fees or fee waivers, scholarship opportunities and discounted fees for SAT, ACT, and AP Tests.
Applications can be completed online through Skyward Family Access after August 1st. A paper application can also be obtained from your school office, by contacting the Food Service Office, or by downloading an application from the district website; www.pointschools.net at Departments >Food Service >Free/Reduced Meal Applications.
New this year, the District has moved to student based accounts. This change will require families with multiple students to add funds to each student account. If paying by check please indicate with your payment the amount of funds you would like allocated to each student. If your family had existing funds in the account before July 22, 2022, those funds were split evenly between students in the family.
🧩 You Are an Important Piece to Our Puzzle
We were thrilled to welcome team members to a new school year on August 25 with a grab-and-go breakfast, wellness items and the video below highlighting our theme for the year, "You Are an Important Piece to Our Puzzle".
Be sure to thank those you know who keep our District ready to serve the needs of students, families and our community -- we are fortunate to have such incredible team members!
