A Principal's Perspective
Did you know that September 4th was our last break?!!! A well deserved break is on the horizon! You have been working diligently for the success of your students! You strive to have a strong, productive, positive grade level team! You continue to keep our focus about the kids! Teaching is hard work!
I am thankful for each of you! You bring gifts, talents, expertise, experience, passion, a student focus, and energy to this teaching profession. November serves as a time of year to stop and focus on gratitude and thanksgiving. We all get so busy this time of year. It is easy to forget, no matter what time of year, to stop and express our gratitude. I know I do! There is a science to gratitude. "Gratitude improves psychological health. Gratitude reduces a multitude of toxic emotions, ranging from envy and resentment to frustration and regret. … in fact, research confirms that gratitude effectively increases happiness and reduces depression." Amber Teamann My personal goal is to remember to have the spirit of Thanksgiving all through the year. It is a great choice backed up by science!
Sometimes it takes a kid's perspective to remind us of the simple but yet power of words expressed to someone. If you have a minute, take a look at a video clip from Kid President. This would be a great clip to share with your students. Although I am not sure of the science behind corn dogs and happy people, his reminder of the power of thanks, not just at Thanksgiving, can indeed make the world more awesome!
Be Innovative - Design the possibilities!
